Insight Matters invite you to the second in our series of free public lectures on Saturday 27th May 12.30-1.30pm: “Exploring the complex nature of Trauma through the therapeutic relationship”
Free Public Talk by Laure Sweeney
Time: Saturday 27th May 2017, 12.30-1.30pm
Venue: Insight Matters, 46 Mountjoy Square South, Dublin 1
For more than 10 years, Laure has worked with a number of government and voluntary agencies specialising in areas such as learning disabilities, children in care and separated children seeking asylum. As a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, she works in the therapeutic rehabilitation of torture survivors in Spirasi as well as having her own private practice (blueacorncounselling.ie).
In this public talk, she will outline the work of experts in the field of trauma in an effort to understand its complex nature and what impact it can have on the person. She will be looking at the relevance of attachment patterns in how people cope with trauma and the challenges that it brings, for both the recovering person and the therapist. Sharing her insights gained through her work with torture survivors and individuals who have been victims of childhood abuse, she will be discussing how important it is to develop a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship in the process of healing.
