Training & Accreditation

Natalie is an accredited member with the IACP and is a fully qualified therapist with over 5 years post qualification clinical experience. She is in the process of achieving an M.Sc. in CBT and Motivational Interviewing (expected 2021), has a graduate diploma in counselling & psychotherapy and a certificate in child & adolescent psychotherapy.

Natalie works with both individual adult and adolescent clients (aged 13+). She is experienced in a wide range of presenting issues such as low self-esteem, sexual orientation, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, loss and separation. She also currently works part time for a large organization providing crisis intervention counselling for clients presenting with self-harm and/or suicidal ideation. Her counselling style is both person-centered and integrative as well as being strength based and goal orientated.

As no two clients are the same, her approach is tailored to the individual client’s needs. A variety of different tools and approaches are drawn on depending on the clients presenting issues. Some examples include: CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Choice Theory, & Gestalt.

Natalie provides a safe and supportive space for her clients where they can learn about who they are and process their feelings around their presenting issues. Once trust is established, Natalie aims to help the client to achieve their goal for therapy by providing them with the necessary tools and supporting them along their journey. Choices and their consequences are explored and clients are encouraged to explore better choices and implement them to achieve positive and lasting change in their lives.

Experience & Areas of Interest

Adolescent Client Work

Natalie involves parents/guardians in the therapy from the offset by including them in the goal setting process and providing regular progress feedback. Empowerment of the adolescent client is an essential part of Natalie’s approach. Choices and their consequences are explored and clients are encouraged to make their own decisions. Natalie aims to help adolescent clients to develop positive and healthy coping skills that they can take with them once therapy ends. These long lasting positive life skills are tools that the adolescent client can continue to use as they move into adulthood.
