Training & Accreditation

Lorraine studied Counselling and Psychotherapy at PCI College in Dublin and is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.  Lorraine is continuing her education and studying towards a master’s degree in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

Lorraine works as an Integrative Counsellor, moving between different theoretical approaches depending on each client’s individual therapeutic needs.  Her main therapeutic approach is Humanistic where she applies a Person-Centered focus with clients by establishing an empathic and nonjudgmental relationship in a relaxed, confidential setting with each client.  Integrating, depending on the presenting issues, between Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, helping the client link between thoughts, emotions, and behavior and where appropriate through Psychodynamic Therapy, understanding how early childhood relationships can impact on their present difficulties and behaviors. Lorraine combines the therapeutic process using Mindfulness, Meditation and Creative Arts, helping the client express themselves, through painting, drawing, collage, clay, sand tray, poetry, and music allowing freedom for the individual to open their minds and create in a free-flowing method. Through the relationship and process, Lorraine assists the client to find meaning through their work in a contained, appropriate, safe atmosphere. Lorraine feels, this process is especially beneficial for those clients that find verbal expression difficult.
