Eleanor Dunn

Training and Accreditation:

Eleanor is a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor. She trained in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy in the Dublin Counselling and Therapy Centre. She also holds a Diploma in Addiction Studies. She spent more than 10 years working with the Dublin Simon Community, building safe, trusting relationships with people in personal crisis and supporting them to rebuild their lives. She continues to work with people in addiction and recovery.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach:

Eleanor works from a humanistic and integrative perspective; in other words she respects the uniqueness of each person and believes that no aspect of ourselves can be ignored; either mind, body, emotions or spirit.

Eleanor believes that a lot of the power of therapy happens in the relationship between the client and the therapist. She aims to provide a relationship where people can feel safe and comfortable to explore and understand themselves, their lives and their relationships. Part of the exploration can be looking at ways to begin to relate with ourselves differently, so we are more compassionate and kind to ourselves, rather than undermining and limiting ourselves. In this process we can learn new ways and inner resources that can support us in difficult times and give us experiences of wellbeing and connection; both to ourselves and others.

Her desire is to support people to live their lives to the full.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest:

Eleanor works with adults presenting with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, history of trauma, addiction, bereavement, relationship issues or those seeking to overcome internal and emotional blocks to moving forward in their lives.
