Training and Accreditation:
Aoife is a qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Aoife holds a BA Honours Degree in Psychology from National University of Ireland Maynooth (NUIM/Maynooth University) and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from ZestLife College. She is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach:
“My therapeutic approach is integrative. This means that I don’t believe in a “one size fits all”. Instead, I use several different therapeutic modalities collaboratively with each person to explore what best suits your needs. Some of these approaches include Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
Regardless of modalities, I feel that at the core of my approach is that I care deeply about the well-being of others and am passionate about helping people. I truly admire those who make the difficult and courageous step to seek help. With this in mind, I aim to create an environment that is safe to explore whatever difficulties you are facing where no issue is too big or too small. My aim is to empower clients on their journey with an emphasis on validating their difficulties, where some difficulties may have never been accepted or recognised before. Furthermore, my approach is non-judgemental, empathic and compassionate”.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest:
Outside of the counselling room, Aoife has worked in many areas such as working as a Home Tutor to children with Autism (ASD), teaching English in Spain, working for her family’s business, Jigsaw(Centre for Young People’s Mental Health) and the Alzheimer’s Society. Aoife feels that each of these areas have taught her different lessons and insights which have contributed to herself both personally and professionally as a therapist.
Aoife works in various areas including but not limited to bereavement/loss, young adult issues, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, stress, and relationship difficulties.
