“Supporting LGBTQ Clients”, takes place in The Ayubowan Meeting Room at Insight Matters, 5 Cavendish Row, Dublin City Centre on Saturday and Sunday 19th and 20th July. This workshop is for those working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning clients and is suitable for all levels of experience.
LGBTQ clients are over represented in therapy yet little or no training is given in working with these clients. This two day workshop will “set the scene” looking at attitudes, beliefs and awareness, the social context for LGBTQ clients, stigma, prejudice and minority stress, and also look at common issues that may arise during work with clients including internalised oppression and shame, gender variance, coming out, affirmative practice and working with requests for change.
