Insight Matters is delighted to work in association with John Pender.
“I am an Acupuncturist who specialises in mental health, a father of two teenage children, a husband and a WRAP Facilitator. My interest in the area of mental health started 16 years ago with my own experience of supporting someone who struggled with depression, anxiety, made a suicide attempt and went on to recover and continues to live a full and meaningful life managing their own wellness on a daily basis. This led to my interest in holistic methods of achieving wellness and I decided to train as an Acupuncturist. This training took me to China where I worked in two hospitals in Nanjing and studied the practice of Acupuncture in the mental health field under Professor Lu Jin Chief, Physician Third Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Tcm. I am a registered Acupuncturist with the A.F.P.A (Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association) and have full professional practice insurance.
I am a Board member of Suicide or Survive, for the last 10 years, a nationwide suicide prevention organisation. I am a trained Level 2 WRAP Facilitator. Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) which takes a practical approach to planning for mental wellness using a range of strategies and supports. I now facilitate WRAP programmes on an ongoing basis.
I have been practicing Acupuncture to assist people experiencing mental health difficulties with their recovery for a number of years with great success. Acupuncture helps to harmonise the mind and body to facilitate wellness and can greatly enhance anindividuals recovery and ongoing wellness maintenance plan.”
